Have I improved!

I have improved on 1 of my affirmations.1 of my affirmations was when ever I played a game of football I learnt a new skill and I have but I am qiute far away from my other affirmations,Ill get there soon though see ya!

Leaders and rulers in ancient Greece

Ancient Greece was made up of different states which were ruled in different ways. Some were ruled by groups of rich and powerful people. Sparta had two kings and a small group of wise old men known as elders. Athens was ruled by the people of athens, voted for by the people, which prevented anyone getting too much power.
None of the states allowed women, foreigners or slaves to take part in government. In the fourth century Alexander the Great became the ruler of all Greece.

The Greeks were often at war with each other or with outside enemies. In early times, warriors used chariots to move round the battlefield. Most battles were fought by foot soldiers with heavy armour and equipment. There were also light armed soldiers like archers, javelin throwers and slingers. Cavalry were sometimes used for sudden attacks and pursuing the defeated enemy. Some states such as Athens and Corinth had very powerful navies (a navies like a ship army).

Here is a gold ring that was probaly worn by a woman.This ring would cost around 5000£ pounds now but in ancient Greece it would only cost about 500.

Clothes in Ancient Greece!

In ancient Greece making cloth was women's work and took a very long time. Not much cloth survives but we know that it was often coloured and decorated with gems,gold and silver. Clothes were made by folding rather than cutting so that no cloth was wasted.
Clothes were shaped and fastened by sewing, pinning or wearing belts. The Greeks made very detailed jewellery without the help of a magnifying glass. Jewellery was mostly worn by women but men might wear a ring or brooch.

Here is a mint condition bronze bowl from ancient Greece as you can see it has very good metalwork the Greeks were known for this because they had very good resources.

Ancient Greec tools and technolagy!

Life in ancient Greece was based mainly on farming but crafts were just as comman such as pottery, weaving, shoe making, tanning, jewellery making, woodworking and metalworking. The Greeks showed that they had a high level of technical skill using simple tools such as the saw, drill, chisel and hammer. They made very good use of heat in metalworking and pottery.
Many people think that the Greeks never developed machinery and other technology because they relied so much on slaves to do their work.
